For as long as I can remember, I’ve loved music. I was obsessed with guitar from a very early age. I got my first guitar when I was about 3 or 4, and I’ve played ever since. I used to teach myself songs just by listening to them over and over, until I’d worked out how to play them. My Dad’s taste in music was a big influence on me, and my biggest influences as a player are Joe Satriani, David Gilmour, Rory Gallagher and Stevie Ray Vaughan.
As a player, I always try to be as musical as possible. I’m not a fan of crazy shred from start to finish! For me, melody and feeling are more important than how many notes you can play in a second, and that’s something I always try to keep in mind with my music.
In 2008, when I was 15, I was runner up in Guitar Idol, which was a fantastic experience, and it helped me to start building a fan base, thanks to exposure from the competition and through my YouTube channel.
As well as playing guitar, I have a strong interest in the recording side of music. At the beginning of 2011, I released my debut EP “Homegrown”, which I wrote and recorded in my bedroom studio throughout 2010.
I’m currently working on some new music for my next planned release, which will hopefully be out sometime in 2012.
