Description

The ML1 is the first guitar made by Chapman Guitars. The central focus of the ML1 was to make a guitar where all of the money in the build was lovingly poured into the parts that could not be upgraded. The tonal concept was to use the warmest, fattest solid mahogany body and combine it with a top-end spank of a bolt-on neck and an ebony fretboard so that you can get a really good balanced tone. You won’t be able to find another guitar made with similar materials anywhere near this budget.

We have intentionally used affordable own-brand Chinese pickups available, with the intent that the purchaser makes the tonal decisions themselves. Pickups make such a difference to the sound of a guitar, and Chapman Guitars really believes that if you care about tone, you should take your guitar and some pickups to a luthier and go through the possibilities together. As it happens, we absolutely lucked-out, as it turns out that the affordable Chinese pickups have a fantastic and unique tone of their own. We genuinely didn’t realise that this was going to happen. It was a happy accident.
